How things are going

Well with a little nudge from a friend (thanks Maria) I'm finally getting around to doing a serious update about what is going on with me. I have been meaning to but you know how time gets away from all of us.

I am loving my new job as a Maritime Instructor. A wonderful and stress free return to my roots of sea service in the Coast Guard. As I mentioned in previous blogs, I never really realized how stressed out I was getting in my previous jobs. Most of this was my responsibility as between the two ministries I never seemed to be able to work out good times to take off and re-charge my own batteries, a fatal flaw for those of us who think we can just keep going and going.

I'm also really looking forward to the long Christmas break and summers off!

The loss of Emma is still rather painful and her absence will always leave a hole in my heart. I continue to pray for her daily, that God is blessing her in her new home and I'm grateful for the time I did have with her.

I have also decided that as long as I'm teaching maritime courses I might just as well get busy and get my license as a Master from the Coast Guard, so I on evenings and weekends I'm getting underway with a local tour boat company so I can gain some recent sea service which is necessary for any license.

It has been wonderful getting back to sea.

I wondered if getting back to the sea in some way might not be the healthiest part of all this. You seem very grounded in your 24 years in the Coast Guard...probably b/c it is a "helping profession" too.

I know losing Emma was tough but what a wonderful gift she gave you. She showed you that you have everything it takes to be a loving parent. It's not like anything was missing. That's a huge blessing!

What great news - back to sea!

You have had a lot of changes and it is good to know you are glad to have this work and how it feeds you.

I do think of you all and Emma in my prayers still. I can't imagine how it feels, it must be so hard. You have touched her life too.

Peace to you - so glad to read this post as I catch up after busy days.
