thought for today

“I have often regretted my speech, never my silence.”

I'm not sure who Xenocrates was. I can think of times, though, when I have regretted my silence. Sometimes you just have to speak up either for yourself or others. There have been many times when I've missed a golden opportunity to say something that needed to be said. Though I've also had times I wished I'd kept my mouth shut.

I have to agree with you Deborah, there are times when I've been silent and should have spoken up. Far more often though, I've said things I should not have said and have spent a lot of time regretting those things. The thing I really need to work on is to not speak and truly listen to what a person has to say, rather than not speak and "zone out" into my own world.

I think you are right, particularly as Christians there are times when God calls us to speak out.
